We talk about it and warn our friends about it. But what about our own photos? Well I was working on a project for photo gift ideas and pulling photos from my computer files. I was making a photo slideshow as a gift for my friend’s 40th birthday, when POW!

Fortunately I had done something good and that is to back up photos and all the rest on my computer on to an external hard drive which is designed for the job, the one I use is Simple Save, very good. All my stuff I realised would be on there and I was able to clean off my computer from the spyware using MalWareBites and do a restore.

What a relief, there were all my photos, files and all. Please don’t let it happen to you. Especially please back up photos and your special documents. I use Tiny Uploads to store my photos now, it is easy and free.

What Would You Grab If There Was A Fire?

Have you ever thought about that frantic moment when fire breaks out in your home, you have only seconds to grab your most precious possessions and run.

We won’t count people or pets of course, but aside from that, what’s yours?

Well a survey done recently asked a slightly different question, what are the top 100 things people just love to do?
The answers were wierd and wonderful in places, but guess what came in at No. 22? Yes, it was Looking at old photos!

Imagine, why would we want to look at these, we have so many other calls for our attention but nothing pulls us like opening a photo album and reliving past times, fun, people and places.

So I decided to ask around about the fire question and do you know, apart from jewellery, the one that came up time after time was My Photos. Wow! But have a think about it for a moment, have you ever come across a heap of photos and began to glance through them? I have and if you are anything like me and like most people, once started you just can’t stop.

All those holidays, memories you had mislaid for a while, all back in glorious colour. Are yours tidily in albums though or are they rather scattered about the house in drawers and boxes?

Might I suggest something you may not have thought of? What about storing your photos online? You will need to scan them but this will be so worth it as they will be safe from that fire and you can look and share them whenever you like.

Pet Memorials

We get so attached to them don’t we, ‘part of the family’ is no exaggeration at all, they absolutely are.

Just adorable, always was and always will be.

When a beloved pet passes on, we are too sad to think of anything much and certainly not the idea of having a memory movie made of their life, but further on down the road, things may change a bit.

This is the time when you, or someone you care for, is ready to have a memorial DVD of their lost pet. Cats, dogs, horses and so many more, it makes no difference, we love them all.

May I tactfully suggest, that when the time is right, you begin to collect photographs of your pet, or the pet of someone else you love, and start a folder called something like: My beloved Jincy.

In there you can gradually collect about 20 or so photos that show your pet when he was tiny, when he was full of mischief and playing, being naughty – oh never… right up to the last photos you feel comfortable with. Don’t forget lots of you together, the relationship aspect is all important so the pet owner needs to be in there too.
